Leoluchina di Miceli is born around 1878 in Corleone, the daughter of Biagio di Miceli and Maria Rosa Saporito.

Leoluchina marries Rosolino Papania, son of Calogero Papania and Calogera Ferrara, on 25 October 1896 in Corleone.[1]

Rosolino and Leoluchina have at least ten children, of whom nine are known: Rosina (c. 1901), Calogero/Carlo (c. 1902), Carolina/Katie (c. 1904), Concettina/Augustine (c. 1904-7), Biagio (1905), Luciano/Richard (c. 1907-11), Joseph (c. 1909-12), Jennie (c. 1914), and Lena (c. 1916). All were born in Louisiana.

Biagio, born 25 January 1905 in Corleone, is baptized on 13 February 1905 in Corleone. His godparents are Nicolo’ di Miceli and Salvatrice Marretta, a married couple.[2]

In the 1910 federal census of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, taken 28th April, Anthony Papania heads a household on Friscoville Avenue. (This street is in Arabi.) He is 35 (b. 1875) and has been married for 5 years (m. 1905) to Rosalie, 26 (b. 1884). She has had 4 children, all living. Anthony and Rosalie were born in Italy. Anthony immigrated in 1891. (The women’s immigration years are not recorded.) Anthony has a grocery store, operating on his own account. Their children at home are Carolina, 4 (b. 1906), Rosina, 3 (b. 1907), Calogero, 2 (b. 1908), and Josephine, 1 (b. 1909), all born in Louisiana.
